Suzuki Early Childhood Education believes that every child can, ability develops early, and environment nurtures growth. It is meant for children ages 4 months to 4 years to develop early music skills and build good character. Students taking SECE are best prepared to study an instrument when they reach 4 years old, sometimes even younger. Learn more about SECE at the Suzuki Association of America’s website.
Classes meet Tuesdays & Fridays 11:15am to 12:15pm at the Westside Music Conservatory 2515 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90403.
Pre/K masterclass is an effective way to begin the violin while learning with others. Students and parents work together as a team–supporting and learning from each other. It is a perfect way to explore if music lessons are right for you and your child. Students should have no prior experience and be between the ages of 4-6. Masterclasses only run if there are 3-4 students available at the same time, otherwise students are recommended to take private lessons.
What is Suzuki method?
Suzuki method is a philosophy on how to teach violin. Students start at a young age, usually between four to seven years old. Lessons focus on building violin skills first with the guidance of the parent. While muscle memory is developing, students listen to their future repertoire. Note reading is introduced alongside actual reading. Review is also important, so once a week, in addition to private lessons, students meet for Group Class to play together.

Morgan’s approach combines her skills as a string player with her background in Neuroscience, providing a deep understanding of how we learn the violin both physically and musically. For her older, perhaps experienced students, Morgan may use a more traditional approach to teaching infused with strong foundation in technique. In addition to classical repertoire, toward the end of the school year Morgan encourages her students to learn American and international folk music inspired for the fiddle.
