Suzuki Early Childhood Education is a Parent & Me class that believes every child can, ability develops early, and environment nurtures growth. It is meant for children from birth through 4 years to develop early music skills and build good character. Students taking SECE are best prepared to study an instrument at an early age. Learn more about SECE at the Suzuki Association of America’s website.
Classes meet at the Westside Music Conservatory on Tuesday and Friday mornings. 2515 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90403.
Suzuki Method begins with the philosophy that every child can learn to play an instrument. While lessons are the cornerstone of learning an instrument, our Pre/K masterclass is an effective way to begin the violin with the added benefit of learning with other children. Students and parents work together as a team–supporting and learning from each other. It is a perfect way to explore if music lessons are right for you and your child. Students should have no prior experience and be between the ages of 4-6. Masterclasses only run if there are 3-4 students available at the same time, otherwise students are recommended to take private lessons and Sunday afternoon Group Class.
What is Suzuki method?
Suzuki method is a philosophy on how to teach music that started with violin. Students start at a young age, usually between four to seven years old. Lessons focus on building violin skills first with the guidance of the parent. While muscle memory is developing, students listen to their future repertoire. Note reading is introduced alongside actual reading. Review is also important, so once a week, in addition to private lessons, students meet for Group Class to play together.

VIOLIN & Viola Lessons
Morgan’s approach combines her skills as a string player with her background in Neuroscience, providing a deep understanding of how we learn the violin both physically and musically. For her older, perhaps experienced students, Morgan may use a more traditional approach to teaching infused with strong foundation in technique. In addition to classical repertoire, toward the end of the school year Morgan encourages her students to learn American and international folk music inspired for the fiddle.
